New running event by the sea:
The Besox Halve van Oostende!
The Besox Halve van Oostende, a winter half marathon with a distinctive concept! Partly paved, partly unpaved.
And in February, a battle with the elements is never far away. The wind mainly comes in from the west, which means headwind in the first half and tailwind on the way back. That makes the course of this half marathon different, unique and next level. Not a traditional city run.
The Besox Halve van Oostende will be the newcomer of 2026 and the opener of the half marathon season.
Feel the wind, hear the sea and test your limits during this new half marathon on the Belgian coast. Are you up for the challenge?

Course
The start and finish are on Zeeheldenplein at the harbour.
The first few kilometres through the centre are fast and sheltered, but the runners’ stamina and perseverance will be tested with a stretch along the majestic Royal Avenue further down, followed by the (paved) dune path to Middelkerke.
The half marathon runners turn around at the iconic SILT in Middelkerke and then run all the way back to Ostend via the beach at low tide.
The turning point for the 10 km is in Mariakerke.
